Despite my party membership, I do agree with that sentiment, and I’m intrigued by your idea/opinion of getting rid of parties all together. However, in the current climate, we have the Coke/Pepsi choice (I think Boston Legal brought that up once)
We can’t get rid of parties. To quote Jed Bartlet,
”..partisan politics is good. Partisan politics is what the founders had in mind. It guarantees that the minority opinion is heard, and as a lifelong possessor of minority opinions, I appreciate it.”
The problem isn’t that we have parties. It’s that we have these parties. Chuck them both out and do us all a favour.
The idea of getting rid of the PM though, and governing through ExCo - I stand by that one.
